You Have Bad Luck

When things were at rock bottom recently for me, I decided to seek a fortune teller to tell my fortunes and perhaps provide some mystical guidance. I read somewhere that when people feel they are no longer in control of the situation they are in, when they feel helpless and life seems hopeless, most people will turn to mystical guidance for help. It does explain why some people change their religion when they are lying on their death bed.

Anyway after paying way too much money for the fortune telling services, I was told in summary that I will have bad luck. Not 1 year. Not 2 years, but 20 years. Apparently, the personal luck runs in a cycle of 10 years. If you have 2 cycles of bad luck side by side, you are considered to have very, very bad luck. I guessed I really believe it at that time, especially considering how rock bottom I was then.

Lately I sort of forgotten the whole incident. Until I was notified that the only second overseas training in my whole career so far that I am suppose to attend was cancelled because of poor response. It was bad enough that I could only get air tickets from Gulf Air. Then after getting my air tickets and hotel booked, I was notified that it was cancelled with no new training planned in the near future.

And so the words of the fortune teller came back to haunt me : You have bad luck.
