    New Zealand 2010

Finally got off my ass to upload all the photos from my road trip in south island, New Zealand last year. All the photos can be found here.

New Zealand is a beautiful place. It was one of the best road trips I had. Thoroughly enjoy this lovely country. 3 months after the trip, an earthquake devastated Christchurch. Stay strong people of Christchurch!

    Working Aboard

It is with great significance when I read about Cowboy Caleb’s entry on traveling overseas alone to work.

With the recent trips to Bangkok, and the forthcoming trips next year to KL and Bangkok, I can foresee that I will have the same feeling as him, feeling lonely in the hotel room, wondering what I will do next. I have been fortunate so far, I do not travel alone yet. And nights are spent downloading the whole day’s office emails and replying them.

There was a time not too long ago that I actually love to travel aboard to work. Maybe I am really getting old.

    Wanderlust 2

I mentioned about wanderlust back in 6th April 2007.

It was just before the current project. I ended up not going anywhere. At that time, the project seems to be a relatively stress-free and smooth one.  I was so wrong.

I was promoted to the project lead just 2 weeks into the project because the original project lead was not available. The client was difficult, and as I am new to this role, it was a steep learning curve. Then it came to the implementation phase, where the vendor delivered empty promises one after another, not to mention the part where they did deliver, were full of problems. I ended up not clearing any leave in the year 2007. The project will be delayed for another 2 more months, and is currently schedule to launch end of March.

In the meantime, when I get the time to switch on the TV, which is very rarely, I switched to the channel Travel & Living. I simply love this channel. It brings me to places that I want to go, and places that I most probably will never get to see in my lifetime. For that brief period in front of the TV, I am temporary taking a dream vacation. And at the end of it, another is added to my list of ‘Things to Do Before I Die’.

Wanderlust is stirring the kender in me. I have a strong urge to grab my hoopak and go where the wind whispers to me.
