    SEA Aquarium

So I went to the SEA Aquarium in Resort World Sentosa during one of my leave days. It was big, taking around 2 hours to complete the tour. It was pretty good, except for the fact that they had dolphins. Dolphins that were captured in the wild. While the tank holding the dolphins were pretty big, dolphins are meant to be in the wild. It was heartbreaking for me to see the wild dolphins swimming in the confined space, especially since I have seen wild dolphins in Monkey Mia in Western Australia. They could remove the dolphins from the place and it will not affect anything. I really do not understand the logic of having dolphins in there.

Anyway, the place was not that crowded, just tourists who are more bothered to take pictures instead of trying to find out the marine life behind the glass. I tried to read and discovered many interesting information. For example, the deep sea  male angler fish are much smaller and bite on to the larger females, like parasites. The male’s bloodstream fuses with the female’s allowing the transfer of sperm from the male to the female. Several males may live co-joined to the same female, losing every part of their body except their reproductive organs, and may be totally dependent on the female for nourishment. Pretty neat eh?

Well, I did take some pictures after reading.

    Beach

So my sis was right. While the beaches in Singapore are really hopeless, when say, compare to Australia, at least it provides a relaxing and soothing few hours.

Took a few hours to lose myself in the beaches at Sentosa. Relaxing and soothing. Note to self : go back often.

    Sentosa Flowers 2009

Since one of my new year resolutions was to take more photographs, I had told myself I will be going to the Sentosa Flowers 2009 event this year. I was a bit apprehensive of going to the Sentosa Flowers today. My mum went on the first day of the Chinese New Year and she was complaining to me about how there was such a long queue, people cutting queue and how rowdy some of them were.

So I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at Vivocity to see a short queue outside the Sentosa counter. All in all, it took me around 15 minutes from Vivocity to Sentosa, including the queue for tickets.

It was not too crowded, and since the only purpose I am going to Sentosa was to take photographs of the flowers, I spent the next 3 hours snapping happily away. It was hot, but I was too engrossed to take notice, only pausing to wonder how they manage to get all the flowers to bloom at the same time. I slowly make my way up Imbiah Lookout, finally reaching the top hot, thirsty and tired. It was only then I realised I should have gone all the way up to the top, then move downhill instead.

All in all, I was quite pleased with the photographs taken, even managing to take some bees in action, my very first nature shots. (For those interested, they can be viewed in the ‘Travel Photos‘ link on the left.
