    Today

    What I did today in 2008 and 2010. Forgot to note down for 2009.

    1. On leave today.

    2. Spent the day packing and sleeping.

    3. Heavy rain the whole day, flash floods in many areas. Perhaps it means that I have much wealth next year?

    4. Had dinner with 2 close friends, having Japanese BBQ.

    5. Started personal project, Wenjie365.

    The Hobbit Trailer

    I have been waiting for the movie ‘The Hobbit’ directed by Peter Jackson, like forever. The first trailer is out:

    Seriously, how cool is a band of singing dwarves?

    The Hobbit consists of 2 movies, “The Hobbit : An Unexpected Journey” out in 2012, and “The Hobbit : There and Back Again” out in 2013.

    The song that the dwarves were singing in the trailer is actually the “Dwarven Song About Old Wealth” from the book. Of course Howard Shore added the haunting tune.

    Far over the misty mountains cold
    To dungeons deep and caverns old
    We must away ere break of day
    To seek the pale enchanted gold.
    The dwarves of yore made mightly spells,
    While hammers fell like ringing bells
    In places deep, where dark things sleep,
    In hollow halls beneath the fells.

    For ancient king and elvish lord
    There many a gleaming golden hoard
    They shaped and wrought, and light they caught
    To hide in gems on hilt of sward.
    On silver necklaces they strung
    The flowering stars, on crowns they hung
    The dragon-fire, in twisted wire
    They meshed the light of moon and sun.
    Far over the misty mountains cold
    To dungeouns deep and caverns old
    We must away, ere break of day,
    To claim our long-forgotten gold.

    Goblets they carved there for themselves
    And harps of gold; where no man delves
    There lay they long, and many a song
    Was sung unheard by men or elves.
    The pines were roaring on the height,
    (The pines were roaring on the height)
    The winds were moaning in the night,
    The fire was red, it flaming spread;
    (The fire was red, it flaming spread)
    The trees like torches blazed with light.
    The bells were ringing in the dale
    (The bells were ringing in the dale)
    And men looked up with faces pale;
    The dragon’s ire more fierce than fire
    (The dragon’s ire more fierce than fire)
    Laid low their towers and houses frail.

    The mountain smoked beneath the moon;
    (The mountain smoked beneath the moon)
    The dwarves, they heard the tramp of doom.
    They fled their hall to dying fall
    (They fled their hall to dying fall)
    Beneath his feet, beneath the moon.

    Far over the misty mountains grim
    To dungeons deep and caverns dim
    We must away, ere break of day,
    To win our harps and gold from him!

    The pines were roaring on the height,
    (The pines were roaring on the height)
    The winds were moaning in the night,
    The fire was red, it flaming spread;
    (The fire was red, it flaming spread)
    The trees like torches blazed with light.
    The bells were ringing in the dale
    (The bells were ringing in the dale)
    And men looked up with faces pale;
    The dragon’s ire more fierce than fire
    (The dragon’s ire more fierce than fire)
    Laid low their towers and houses frail.

    Think Different

    This is from me, to me. To ponder, to think, to motivate, to inspire. Always remember.

    When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and your life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family life, have fun, save a little money.
    That’s a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact, and that is – everything around you that you call life, was made up by people that were no smarter than you. And you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.
    The minute that you understand that you can poke life and actually something will, you know if you push in, something will pop out the other side, that you can change it, you can mold it. That’s maybe the most important thing. It’s to shake off this erroneous notion that life is there and you’re just gonna live in it, versus embrace it, change it, improve it, make your mark upon it.
    I think that’s very important and however you learn that, once you learn it, you’ll want to change life and make it better, cause it’s kind of messed up, in a lot of ways. Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.

    Pain

    “Pain comes in all forms: the small twinge, a bit of soreness, the random pain, the normal pains we live with every day. Then there’s the kind of pain we can’t ignore: a level of pain so great that it blocks out everything else, makes the rest of the world fade away until all we can think about is how much we hurt. How we manage our pain is up to us. Pain. We anesthetize, ride it out, embrace it, ignore it… And for some of us, the best way to manage pain is to just push through it.”

    RIP Steve Jobs

    “Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes.

    The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.

    About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward.

    Maybe they have to be crazy.”

    RIP Steve Jobs (1955 – 2011)

    I Still Care

    The truth is I still care. I am not the kind of person to let people walk out of my life and I pretend that they do not exist any more.

    The places we went to, the food we ate, the things we talked about, all these form part of my memories, and it is impossible to just let go of them.

    Not talking about it does not mean I have forgotten. I still care, even though I do not show it.
