    My Other (Expensive) Hobby

Someone previously remarked to me that I do not have any other hobby besides World of Warcraft. As a matter of fact, I DO have another hobby, though I do not count WoW as a hobby. WoW is more like an addiction.

My other hobby, which is more expensive than WoW, is building LEGO. Yes, those building blocks toy that every kid used to play.  But there are many people in the world now, who are no longer a kid, yet still very interested in LEGO. There is even a term for it, called Adult fan of LEGO, or AFOL.

The thing I like about LEGO is that the quality of the bricks, quality of each design, and how each piece has a place in the overall design. Building LEGO destresses me, it promotes logical thinking, and encourages creativity. On one hand, every piece has its own place, on the other, it provides infinite flexibility to come out with something out of the box, something totally new.

With the limited time that I have, I have not been able to build that many sets, and I have many sets lying around waiting for me.

Two photos of the ones that have been completed :

    Union Major Sullvian Ballou

I came across this very famous letter written by Union soldier Major Sullvian Ballou to his wife, just 1 week before being killed in the war. It is a very touching letter.

Some of the lines from the letter that I find especially touching:

Forgive my many faults, and the many pains I have caused you. How thoughtless and foolish I have oftentimes been! How gladly would I wash out with my tears every little spot upon your happiness, and struggle with all the misfortune of this world, to shield you and my children from harm. But I cannot. I must watch you from the spirit land and hover near you, while you buffet the storms with your precious little freight, and wait with sad patience till we meet to part no more.

But, O Sarah! If the dead can come back to this earth and flit unseen around those they loved, I shall always be near you; in the garish day and in the darkest night — amidst your happiest scenes and gloomiest hours — always, always; and if there be a soft breeze upon your cheek, it shall be my breath; or the cool air fans your throbbing temple, it shall be my spirit passing by.

Let Me Count The Ways I Can Die

I got this from my sister.

The Amazing Death Predictor says I will die :

    First Death :
At age 70 you will fall into a tank at a large aquarium and be eaten by suckerfish.

    Second Death :
At age 85 you will become lost during a road trip and wind up living out the movie “Wrong Turn”. Sorry for ya.

    Third Death :
At age 73 a statue will fall over and crush you while giving your acceptance speech for the position of Governor.

Why are my deaths so boring compared to my sister?

    Twitter

Got myself signed up for Twitter. Put it on the right hand side. Thanks to mrbrown for introducing it.

Now, it will be even cooler if I can update it by just sending a SMS. Seems like as of now I have to pay SMS charges to UK. They did mention that local charges should be coming soon.
